RPC and all other Services "Unavailable"
I am running(or was)Windows XP Home Edition SP3.I ran a program to optomize and straighten up my registry etc.Either I screwed up or the program. As a result "My" computer starts up with no taskbar and I have no access to the controls in Services.I seriously would like Help in regaining the access,so I can reset them back to have a functioning computer.I offed the program that I was trying!

Hi,I would recommend you to restore the computer to a previous state. Use the System Restore feature to return to a previous state.Refer:How to restore Windows XP to a previous statehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084Hope this helps. Thanks and Regards:Shekhar S - Microsoft Support. Thank You Much,But I do not have access to the restore point feature,it has never worked on this computer! When I try to enable the disabled services,I get a pop up that says "Could not start the Remote Procedure Call(RPC)service on local computer. Also Error 1058-The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.I did change a service a couple of years ago.I remember pressing "Properties,Log On,and then setting the condition from a choice of Enabled,Disabled or Manual. At this point "Properties is not even available! So whatever permissions or accesses the program I had used turned off,I need to turn on. What a Pain!!

What a Pain!!Your topic title states RPC and other services not available. This is probably due to the system optimizer you used which is why I asked you to post the name of the software. I'm certain the issue can be resolved but, not without extensive procedures in both the registry and perhaps the file system. My recommendation to you is to perform a repair install of windows using your windows disc. If you do not have a windows disc see if you can borrow one.How to Perform a Windows XP Repair InstallI don't vote for myself I'm not here for the points. If this post helps you, vote.
